Lucerne

Lucerne is a canton in central Switzerland, known for museums, lakes and majestic peaks such as Mount Pilatus and Rigi. Paddle steamers cruise the waters of beautiful Lake Lucerne. On its banks, the capital Lucerne features colorful a old town and 14th-century city walls, plus covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art. The Museum Sammlung Rosengart displays works by Picasso and Klee. 

The canton of Uri was a founding member of the Swiss Confederation. It is located in Central Switzerland, covering the valley of the Reuss, from Lake Lucerne to the Gotthard massive. It is a great place for nature lovers, in summer and winter, and an interesting area to visit if you want to learn more about the Swiss folk hero Wilhelm Tell.

The canton of Zug is located in central Switzerland and its capital is also called Zug. With 239 km² Zug is one of the smallest Swiss cantons. Zug has a cute historic town center and the sunset over lake Zug is breathtaking. Make sure to try the delicious Zug Cherry Cake.

The canton of Schwyz stretches from Lake Zürich to Lake Lucerne. Schwyz is the hometown of the Swiss Army knive and the Museum of the Swiss Charters of Confederation displays the Federal Charter of 1291. Schwyz is a great place to visit to learn more about the history of Switzerland, but also offers beautiful landscapes.

The canton of Glarus is located in east-central Switzerland. Glarus has a lot to offer for cyclists, climbers and hikers and is an interesting region for hobby geologists. Examples include the Swiss Tectonic Arena Sardona, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and dinosaur tracks on the highest mountain of eastern Switzerland.
