Trip Itinerary:
We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.
Day 1: Arrival in Zurich
Your hotel is located conveniently close to the famous Bahnhofstrasse (shopping distric) in the heart of Zurich's Old Town. A great way to discover Zurich and to learn a little more about its history are the Free Walking Tours.
The twin towers of the Grossmünster are not only Zurich's prominent landmark, visitors can also climb up the Karlsturm and enjoy a breathtaking view over the city.
Day 2: Zurich to Lucerne
Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art.
With the lake winding its way through the mountain scenery, a boat cruise is a perfect way for great views of famous mountains like the Stanserhorn, Mount Rigi, and Pilatus. You might also want to take the oldest cogwheel train in Switzerland up Mount Rigi (included).
Day 3: Daytrip into the Ticino
Lucerne and Lugano are very well connected with direct trains in less than 2 hours. Even though on the map Zermatt seems to be closer I plan a second night in Lucerne, as Zermatt is easier accessible via Interlaken on Day 6.
Welcome to Lugano, the largest town in the Italian-speaking canton of Switzerland. The city with its Mediterranean flair lies in a bay on the northern side of Lake Lugano. For one of the best viewpoints over the town, the lake, and its surrounding mountains, we recommend taking the funicular railway up Monte Brè, considered the sunniest mountain in Switzerland. Romanic villages and numerous hiking trails are waiting to be discovered.
On your way there or back, I recommend you to stop in Bellinzona and l discover the Fortress of Bellinzona.

Day 4: Lucerne to Interlaken:
When entering the Bernese Oberland, have a stop in the cute town of Brienz. Cross the blueish Lake Brienz by boat and go on a short walk to explore the beautiful Giessbach Falls.
In the afternoon awaits the Harder Kulm. From the viewing platform at 1,322 meters above sea level, he would graciously look down upon Lake Brienz and Lake Thun, or admire the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. In fact, the Harder Kulm Panorama Restaurant is reminiscent of a castle.
Day 5: Interlaken:
Rafting: The mighty Lütschine offers some of the best whitewater rafting in the Swiss Alps. Straight from the start below the Eiger north face, continuous class III-IV rapids surge down from the mountains and out into the Interlaken valley and the Lake of Brienz. It is an exhilarating rush from start to finish.

Jungfraujoch (optional):
For those who are not going rafting, I would recommend a nice hike just underneath the Eiger North Face before joining up again with the family.
Icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches underfoot, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Mittelland towards the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch Glacier, lined with four thousand meter peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.
Day 6: Interlaken to Zermatt:
Via the beautiful Kandervalley and Lötschbergtunnel, you will arrive in the canton of Valais. Only one more train ride away lies Zermatt. The car-free town of Zermatt is located at the foot of Switzerland's landmark - the impressive Matterhorn. The peak lift takes you up to the 360º viewing platform on Europe’s highest mountain station 'Klein Matterhorn', from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers. A must-see is also Zermatt’s glacier paradise.
Day 7: Zermatt to Montreux
Continuing your train ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from German to French. Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the rest of the day on the shores of Lake Geneva. A visit to the medieval Chillon Castle is always worth it.
In the afternoon we organize a degustation tour through the vine terraces of Lavaux (another UNESCO world heritage). For your kids, there will be a possible alternative with fruit juice and snacks.
Day 8: Montreux to Gstaad
Today another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass.
Combine food and hiking - get yourself a prepacked fondue rucksack and hike to one of the giant fondue pots (seating areas) to enjoy your delicious fondue. The area of Gstaad and Zweisimmen is known for its cheese delicacies.
Day 9: Gstaad to Zurich Airport (via Bern):
The medieval town of Gruyère is home to the namesake AOP cheese and close by in Broc is one of the biggest chocolate manufacturers based. In Chateau d'Oex there is a cute restaurant that offers a demonstration of cheese making every Sunday morning, while you enjoy a plate of their delicious cheese. The chocolate factory Cailler is a no-brainer - in about one hour the tour leads you through the history of chocolate, from Aztec cocoa ceremonies to the innovations of today.
For the afternoon we would suggest strolling around in Bern's cute Old Town which is also a UNESCO world heritage site; and are you aware that the bear is not only the symbol of the canton? Bears live in the city center in a pit right on the other riverside of the old town.
Day 10: Zurich Airport:
Your hotel is only a stone's throw away from the Airport.
We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
