Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

Day 1: Arrival in Zurich

Zurich Airport is very well connected to the city center. With only about 15 min by train to the city center, you can already benefit from your Swiss Travel Pass. Taking a taxi is not worth it here. Your hotel will be located in the city center - perfect for your day of arrival to walk around, stretch out your legs after your flight and get an impression of Switzerland's biggest city.

The famous Bahnhofstrasse, the old town and numerous museums are within walking distance. We specifically recommend visiting the Swiss National Museum Zurich (included), showcasing the history of Switzerland from its beginnings up to the present day, giving an insight into the Swiss identity and the rich tapestry of the country’s history and culture.

Day 2: Zurich → Grindelwald

The mountains are calling! But first, we would suggest stopping in Switzerland’s capital to stroll around in Bern's cute Old-Town which is a UNESCO world heritage site; and are you aware that the bear is not only the symbol of the canton? Bears live in the city center in a pit right on the other riverside of the old town.

I will try to organize a guided tour through the Parliament in Bern (highly demanded and only available if the Parliament is not in session). Immerse yourself in the world of Parliament while a guide takes you in the domed hall, the Council chambers and the lobby and find out about the history of the building and how Parliament works

For the next two nights, you will stay in Grindelwald, located right on the foot of the notorious Eiger North Face.

Day 3: Bernese Oberland

This day is reserved to explore the Jungfrau region which has a lot to offer. Head up the famous Jungfraujoch, or one of the many other mountains offering fantastic panoramas, visit the valley of the 72 waterfalls and enjoy one of the many hiking trails in the area. You might want to take a walk on the Männlichen, the small servant of the royal three mountains: Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The notorious Eiger North Face was long time considered to be the last alpine challenge.

A walk on the Männlichen will let you dive into the tragic and heroic stories of this wall. Continue your hike along the Eiger Trail. With binoculars and a little luck, you may even be able to spot a roped team on the wall. Over steep alpine pastures, past wild streams and waterfalls, the path leads down to Alpiglen train station.

Jungfraujoch (optional):

Icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches under your feet, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Mittelland towards the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch Glacier, lined with four thousand meter peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

Self-Guided (Train)

Day 4: Grindelwald→ Lucerne

Cross Lake Brienz via boat and visit the beautiful Giessbach Falls, tumbling in 14 stages, over a length of 500 meters down to Lake Brienz before continuing your journey to Lucerne. Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art.

Once you had time to visit the city, a boat will take you from Lucerne’s train station to your hotel, located right on the shores of Lake Lucerne.

Day 5: Lake Lucerne

Enjoy the day in this beautiful setting. Experience Lake Lucerne by kayak (let me know if you prefer 2 single or one double kayak), and paddle to deserted bays that cannot be reached on foot.

You might also want to take the oldest cogwheel train in Switzerland up Mount Rigi (included in your travel pass), departing right next to your hotel, and enjoy one of the many hikes up there.

Day 6: Lucerne → Lugano

Lucerne and Lugano are very well connected with direct trains in less than 2 hours.

Lugano is the largest town in the Italian-speaking canton of Switzerland. The city with its Mediterranean flair lies in a bay on the northern side of Lake Lugano. Stop in Bellinzona and discover the 3 Fortresses of Bellinzona.

Day 7: Lugano

Romantic villages and numerous hiking trails are waiting to be discovered. In case you need a Covid-Test for entering Italy you can get your appointment online here

For one of the best viewpoints over the town, the lake, and its surrounding mountains, take the funicular railway up Monte Brè, considered the sunniest mountain in Switzerland.

Day 8: Lugano → Lago di Como (29 July)

We have included the train ride from Lugano to Lago di Como in the offer and will be happy to book the tickets for you.
