Trip Itinerary:
We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.
Day 1: Arrival in Zurich
We will organize a private transfer from Zurich Airport to your hotel (Zurich Marriott Hotel - booked by you). Not far located in the heart of the city, you'll find the famous Bahnhofstrasse (shopping district) and Zurich's Old Town - perfect for your day of arrival to go spontaneously for a short walk and get an impression of Switzerland's biggest city.
To get rid of the Jetlag you may want to climb up the twin towers of the Grossmünster, which are not only Zurich's prominent landmark, but you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the city.
Day 2: Zurich: Day Excursion: Lake Walen & St. Gallen
About 1.5 hours from Zurich lies the UNESCO world heritage St. Gallen. The Convent of St Gallen, a perfect example of a great Carolingian monastery, was, from the 8th century to its secularization in 1805, one of the most important in Europe. Its library is one of the richest and oldest in the world and contains precious manuscripts such as the earliest-known architectural plan drawn on parchment.
We will have a quick stop over in Vaduz, stroll through their little "Städtle" (city center) and drive by the castle of Vaduz.
Just around the corner of the Glarner Alps lies the beautiful Lake Walen from where the mighty seven Churfirsten arise.
Day 3: Zurich → Jungfrau Region
Via our capital Bern, you will now make your way deep into the Alps. Stroll around in Bern's cute Old Town which is also a UNESCO world heritage site; and are you aware that the bear is not only the symbol of the canton? Bears live in the city center in a pit right on the other riverside of the old town.
In the afternoon we'll invite you to Piz Gloria: The Schilthorn became famous as a location for the 1969 James Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. The revolving restaurant at the summit, which rotates around its own axis once every 45 minutes, owes its current name Piz Gloria to the film production. Interested visitors can follow in James Bond’s footsteps in the interactive Bond World exhibition or on the 007 Walk of Fame.
Day 4: Jungfrau Region (self-guided)
This area has so much to offer: Head up the famous Jungfraujoch, or one of the many other mountains offering fantastic panoramas, visit the valley of the 72 waterfalls and enjoy one of the many hiking trails in the area. You might want to take a walk on the Männlichen, the small servant of the royal three mountains: Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The notorious Eiger North Face was long time considered to be the last alpine challenge. A walk on the Mänlichen will let you dive into the tragic and heroic stories of this wall.
Jungfraujoch (included):
Icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches underfoot, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Mittelland towards the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch Glacier, lined with four thousand-meter peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

Day 5: Grindelwald → Montreux
Then another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass.
We can discuss potential stops from Grindelwald to Zweisimmen in our briefing one day in advance.
Day 6: Montreux: Day Excursion to Gruyère
Gruyère: The small picturesque town of Gruyères appears to have emerged straight out of the Middle Ages.
If you are motivated enough we could still add a detour to Geneva.
Day 7: Montreux → Zermatt
We'll start the day with a tour through the medieval Chillon Castle.
Continuing your ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from French to German with some stops to discover that valley a little closer. Arriving in Zermatt you'll have the afternoon to linger around and enjoy the beautiful scenery on foot of the Matterhorn.
Day 8: Zermatt (self-guided)
Take the train up to the Gornergrat. With its sunny observation platform accessible all year, the Gornergrat, at an altitude of 3,089 m, has been one of Switzerland’s top excursion destinations since 1898. The Gornergrat Bahn was the world’s first fully electrified cog railway.
Day 9: Zermatt → Engadin
Today we will add another highlight to your travel memories: The famous Glacier Express train ride (Excellence Class *if available/timetables not announced yet). Over its entire length, the Glacier Express leads over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels over the Swiss Alps.
On your trip from St Moritz, the train winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct, and through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland.
Excellence Class Services:
Lounge seating with guaranteed window seat
exclusive access to the Glacier Bar
Tablet with Bordinfotainment
Concierge as host in the Excellence Class
Catering:
Coffee, juice, champagne
Regional 7-course menu incl. wine accompaniment
Tea Time in the afternoon with goodies
Soft drinks & fruit juices
Snacks throughout the day available
Day 10: Engadin → Lugano
Cross the Alps on the Bernina Express on the highest-altitude rail route in Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage railway line. You too can experience this fascinating panorama trip through the impressive countryside of Grisons.
Your guide will pick you up again in Tirano and accompany you along Lago Maggiore, to Lugano, which is the largest town in the Italian-speaking canton of Switzerland. The city with its Mediterranean flair lies in a bay on the northern side of Lake Lugano.
Day 11: Lugano → Lucerne
A journey on the Gotthard Panorama Express is an unforgettable experience and there is plenty to discover on the journey by boat and train. For not only can you look forward to a panoramic view of some of the most attractive regions in Switzerland here; but you will also experience many highlights on the boat and train.
Day 12: Lucerne
Excursion to Mt. Pilatus: With the wide variety of leisure activities on Mount Pilatus, Pilatus-Bahnen AG offers «2,132 opportunities above sea level».
Two aerial cable ways, two hotels, five restaurants, the steepest cogwheel railway in the world and the biggest rope park in central Switzerland provide for exciting excursions and exceptional seminar and banquet options.
Day 13: Lucerne to Zurich Airport
Lucerne's Old Town is rated every year among the most beautiful towns in the world. Visit the medieval Chapel Bridge - one of the oldest, covered wooden bridges in Europe, do some souvenir shopping or just have a coffee on the shores of Lake Lucerne before it's time to leave for Zurich Airport
Your guide will gladly recommend a stop or two in between.
