Neuchâtel is a French-speaking canton in western Switzerland, bordering France. It is a rural canton lying in a sub-alpine mountain range. It offers great viewpoints, magical valleys and many vineyards. The capital lies on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel and its old town spreads beneath the medieval castle of Neuchâtel and the adjacent 12th century Gothic church, Église Collégiale. The cities Le Locle and La Chaux-de-Fonds are watchmaking towns with the Musée International d'Horlogerie exhibiting historical pieces from the world of horology.
