Switzerland Grand Tour
Trip Itinerary:
We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.
Day 1: Arrival in Zurich
Your rental car can be picked up directly at the airport.
Your hotel will be in the center of Zurich. The famous shopping street "Bahnhofstrasse" and the old town of Zurich are only in short walking distance, which gives you an opportunity to arrive in Switzerland, relax and also take a walk in Zurich's city center before your trip really starts the next day.
Day 2: Zurich → Engadin
You will leave Switzerland's biggest city behind you and head up north to Europes biggest waterfall - the Rhine falls. Get on a boat to truly explore the power of this natural spectacle. For lunch, we would recommend you to stop in St. Gallen to discover the UNESCO world heritage, the Abbey district of St. Gallen. Its magnificent Baroque cathedral forms a unique historical ensemble. The Abbey Library - with Switzerland's most beautiful hall and ancient books will fascinate you.
With only a little more time to spend you going to make your way south into the canton of Grison, passing the Rhine valley with its many castles, maybe a short detour to Liechtenstein, and climbing over one of the alpine passes to enter the Engadin valley. A short walk through one of the gorges starts just at the door of your hotel - we show you where to go.
2 Nights in Engadin
Day 3: Engadin
The Engadin Valley is a true nature and outdoor paradise. St. Moritz was not without reason the birthplace for winter tourism and hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it is the culture and tradition of this luxurious Alpine resort that has made it what it is today.
Get on a train ride on the Bernina tracks to Alp Grüm, which offers breathtaking views on the surrounding peaks, glaciers, and Italy. During your stay, all cable cars and public transportations will be included that gives you the opportunity to hike or bike this area. We will share our most favorite tracks or hikes with you.

Day 4: Engadin → Ticino
Leaving Switzerland for a short time these roads will lead you through narrow valleys and along the beautiful Lake Como to reenter Switzerland again at Lake Lugana and its same-named city. Switzerland's most southern and Italian-speaking canton is a lot different than the rest of Switzerland, as the architecture, as well as the style of living, will show. Stroll through the old town of Lugano or enjoy your afternoon on the shores of the lake. Many water activities, such as SUP or wakeboarding, can be done quite spontaneously.
Day 5: Ticino → Fiesch
Today's ride is a highlight itself. Take your time to enjoy the castles of Bellinzona, the scenic views along with the alpine passes and Rhône Glacier before arriving in Fiesch. This small alpine town lies on the foot of the Eggishorn, part of the Aletsch Arena. Aletsch, the largest glacier of the Alps can be best admired from this side of the valley. An easy hike up to Eggishorn (2 927m) is our easier hike suggestion. You already indicated a good level of fitness. How about steady feet and not scared of heights? Both no problem, then we will share our recommendation for one of the most scenic hikes (partly climb) with you from where you can enjoy the scene of the Aletsch glacier and the surrounding 4000m peaks best. On clear days the peaks Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, as well as the famous Matterhorn, can be seen.
Alternative stay: In Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn (this is a longer drive and will leave you only a little time in the Aletsch Arena)
Day 6: Fiesch → Montreux:
Continuing your drive along the Valais (Valley) the language will change again from German to French. Stretch out your legs to discover the castles in Sion or a small cave at the entrance of the valley. Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you will you can enjoy the afternoon on the shores of Lake Geneva. Depending on the time of your arrival you also have the chance to visit the famous Chillon Castle or go on a wine tour in Lavaux (another UNESCO world heritage).
Day 7: Montreux → Grindelwald:
2 routes will be possible today: Food or Cultural Route
Food:
From Montreux, it is only a short ride to the medieval town of Gruyère. Home of the famous Gruyère AOP cheese you can visit the official cheese factory and/or one of the many alpine cheese manufacturers and learn how cheese is made in alpine regions for centuries. Preserve some appetite because the Caillier chocolate factory is not far away. Go on an insightful and delicious tour through one of Switzerland's biggest chocolate factories.
Cultural:
The bear is not only the symbol of this canton, bears actually live in Switzerland's capital Bern. Many museums, as well as the beautiful old town, are awaiting you and invite you to stroll around. Go on a tour through parliament and learn more about Switzerland's direct democracy.
2 Nights in Grindelwald
Day 8: Interlaken Region
Active and Adventrourous? Interlaken is the place to be. No matter what you are looking for, here you can do so. Skydiving, rafting, canyoning, climbing, hiking, cliff walks, and more! let us know what you prefer and we will make the reservation for you. Also, an excursion to the famous Kandervalley to Lake Oeschinen or Lake Blausee might be an option.
Day 9: Interlaken → Lucerne:
Before arriving in Lucerne we would like to show you something special: The GlasiHergiswil is the only remaining glasswork in Switzerland where glass is still blown and shaped by hand. Discover how glass is manufactured and watch the glassblowers work with your own eyes. You will have time to explore the city of Lucerne and enjoying a boat ride on the picturesque lake.
Early bird suggestion: Go on a little detour and explore the Aare gorge.
Day 10: Lucerne → Zurich Airport:
If your time of departure permits you can add a stop at one of Switzerland's most picturesque caves - the Höll Grotten. Dropping off your rental car back at Zurich Airport we will leave you with many good memories from this alpine paradise.
