Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

Day 1: Arrival Zurich Airport → Lucerne

Grüezi in Switzerland! Your rental car awaits you upon your arrival at the airport and after a short 40min drive, you are in the beautiful city of Lucerne. With an early arrival you may have time to take a little detour to visit Zurich itself: The twin towers of the Grossmünster are not only Zurich's prominent landmark, but visitors can also climb up the Karlsturm and enjoy a breathtaking view over the city and the close-by Old Town.

Lucerne's Old Town is rated every year among the most beautiful towns in the world.

Day 2 and 3: Lucerne

Enjoy these two days on and around lake Lucerne. We will be pleased to include detailed suggestions in your final itinerary, but here are a few first recommendations:

On the first full day, we would recommend enjoying a scenic boat ride on the lake. You might want to hop off the boat and hike part of the `Switzerland trail` or visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rütli is said to have been taken by the first three cantons to found the Swiss confederation. Another great thing to do is take the oldest cogwheel train in Switzerland up to the top of Mount Rigi, the queen of all mountains. Enjoy a first glimpse of the Alps and the beautiful scenery of Lake Lucerne.

On the other day, you should enjoy the beautiful Jungfrau region which boasts a plethora of activities and spectacular views of the famous Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains. Head up the famous Jungfraujoch, or one of the many other mountains offering fantastic panoramas, visit the valley of the 72 waterfalls, enjoy one of the many hiking trails in the area or visit one of the alpine cheeseries in this area.

Day 4: Lucerne → Lugano

Take the scenic road: Drive and explore the Gotthard alpine pass to reach the Ticino and spend some time in the southern part of Switzerland. Lugano is the largest town in the Italian-speaking canton of Switzerland. The city with its Mediterranean flair lies in a bay on the northern side of Lake Lugano.

A little detour through the Verzasca valley, which is popular for its beauty, and its unspoiled nature is always worth it.

Day 5 and 6: Lugano

Get your day started by visiting the 3 fortresses of Bellinzona. Unique within the Alps, the castle of Bellinzona is one of the main attractions of Ticino and has been listed UNESCO World Heritage site since the year 2000. With its bastions, walls, towers, battlements, and gates, this imposing fortification is truly a sight to behold.

Also, you could take the liberty of your car and visit one of the local markets of the Lago di Maggiore.

On the other side of Lake Lugano, you can find Melano and the waterfalls of Botto – Cascata del Botto. With proper footwear, it is a beautiful 1-1.5 hour excursion into nature.

Day 7: Lugano → Montreux

Your journey then takes now into the canton of Valais. The drive itself is a highlight and you definitely want to take your time to discover the Rhone Glacier or the 280-meter long Goms suspension bridge (if your wife dares to!).

Continuing your train ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from German to French. On your way, we'd like to show you the two castles of Sion (one of them is actually a church) and the underground lake of St. Leonard.

Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the rest of the day on the shores of Lake Geneva. In the afternoon we organize a degustation tour through the vine terraces of  Lavaux (another UNESCO world heritage).

Day 8 and 9: Montreux

Today I'd like to include a magnificent train ride  - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass. Combine food and hiking - get yourself a prepacked fondue rucksack and hike to one of the giant fondue pots (seating areas) to enjoy your delicious fondue. The area of Gstaad and Zweisimmen is known for its cheese delicacies.

On the other day, I'd like to show you a little more remote area of the Jura mountains. In there the most beautiful caves of Vallorbe are waiting for you to be discovered. Take the afternoon to stroll around Geneva, through its old-town, the flower watch, or the famous Jet-d'eau.

Day 10: Montreux → Bern

Today everything will be about treating your taste buds: From Montreux, it is not a long drive to get to the Maison Caillier. A tour through the history of Swiss chocolate incl. a degustation will make you understand what Swiss chocolate is all about!

But save some appetite: Gruyère, home to the famous Gruyère AOP cheese is only a stone's throw away. Stroll through this medieval town and enjoy a delicious chees plate before leaving for Bern - its cute Old Town is a UNESCO world heritage site as well.

Day 11: Bern → Zurich Airport (27th of July 2022)

Bern is very well connected to Zurich's airport. That gives you some time to do some souvenir shopping or visit the bears! Are you aware that the bear is not only the symbol of the canton? Bears live in the city center in a pit right on the other riverside of the old tow

We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
