Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

Pre-Tour: Fondation Beyeler

The museum in Riehen near Basel is internationally renowned for its high-caliber exhibitions, its major collection of modern and contemporary art, as well as its ambitious program of events.

Day 1: Basel → Montreux:

No visit is complete in Basel without strolling through the City Gates of Basel. After that, the Swiss trains will take you to Montreux. while the language will change from German to French. Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the rest of the day on the shores of Lake Geneva and its famous Christmas market. A visit to the medieval Chillon Castle is always worth it and will be included in your travel package.

For the Christmas market, we will make a reservation at the wooden block house for your first Swiss cheese fondue.

Day 2: Montreux → Zermatt:

For early birds + a clear view: Leave your luggage behind at your hotel or the train station and take the cog railway up to the Rochers de Naye (55 min one way). The picturesque ride rises from the shores of Lake Geneva into the fresh mountain air. Climbing more than 1,600 meters in altitude, the railway passes fields, villages and forests. With increasing altitude, the narrow track along the slope offers ever-more spectacular views over Lake Geneva and the surrounding mountains. (50% discount with your travel pass)

Your journey will then take you through the canton of Valais to the carfree town of Zermatt. For a first insight into the history of the famous Matterhorn, we recommend a short visit to the Zermatlantis. You can see how the people lived in Zermatt in the 19th century and shudder at the sight of the broken rope from the first ascent of the Matterhorn in 1865. Tomorrow you'll admire it a lot closer.

Self-Guided (Train)

Day 3: Zermatt:

You will have the chance to discover Zermatt on the foot of Switzerland's natural landmark. Take up the cable car to the Glacier Paradise, Europe's highest cable car station (3883 meters). One of the highlights is certainly the platform with a view over 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers of the Swiss, Italian and French Alps.

Wintersports: If you'd like we'd love to organize some snow shoes for you to walk back down on a poled path from the Black Lake. We could also organize an instructor if this finds your interest.

Day 4: Zermatt → Zurich

Via the Lötschbergtunnel you'll arrive in the Bernese Oberland and make your way to our capital Bern.  We would definitely suggest strolling around in Bern's cute Old Town which is also a UNESCO world heritage site; are you aware that the bear is not only the symbol of the canton? Bears live in the city center in a pit right on the other riverside of the old town (even if they will be in hibernation during winter.

Nevertheless, Bern is one of these underrated gems in Switzerland. If possible we'd be happy to organize a tour through our parliament (highly demanded and only possible when the parliament is not in session). Do not miss to check out the shops in the basement.

Day 5: Zurich:

Your hotel is located conveniently close to the famous Bahnhofstrasse (shopping district) in the heart of Zurich's Old Town. The twin towers of the Grossmünster are not only Zurich's prominent landmark, visitors can also climb up the Karlsturm and enjoy a breathtaking view over the city. In the morning we'd like to invite you on a guided walk through Zurich.

For the afternoon we include the Lindt chocolate museum into your travel arrangement: The Lindt Home of Chocolate is a milestone in Swiss chocolate history and provides an attractive day-trip destination for chocolate fans all around the globe.

For the evening: Again, the beautiful Christmas market in Zurich.

Day 6: Departure:

Zurich Airport is very well connected to the city center. With only about 15 min to the city center, you can benefit again from your Swiss Travel Pass.  This will allow you to get some souvenirs or just enjoy a hot coffee on the shores of the Lake as well.

We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your family until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
