Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

Day 1: Arrival Zurich on 20th of December 2022

We will organize a private transfer from Zurich Airport to your hotel, located in the heart of the city - perfect for your day of arrival to walk around, stretch out your legs after your flight and get an impression of Switzerland's biggest city.

The famous Bahnhofstrasse, the old town and numerous museums are within walking distance. We specifically recommend visiting the Swiss National Museum Zurich, showcasing the history of Switzerland from ist beginnings up to the present day, giving an insight into the Swiss identity and the rich tapestry of the country’s history and culture.

Day 2: Day Excursion to Lindt Chocolate world & St. Gallen

Head to St. Gallen to discover the UNESCO world heritage Abbey district of St. Gallen. Its magnificent Baroque cathedral forms a unique historical ensemble. The Abbey Library - with Switzerland's most beautiful hall and ancient books will fascinate you.

But let's start this tour Swiss-like: A tour of the Lindt Home of Chocolate (20 mins from Zurich) covers every aspect of this Swiss cultural asset chocolate, including a chocolate fountain over 9m tall and the biggest Lindt Chocolate Shop in the world, spread over 500m2.

Day 3: Zurich → St. Moritz

Before arriving in the Engadin valley you have to stop in Landquart: If you would like to do some shopping or equip yourselves for your next days in the mountains, you might want to check out the Landquart fashion outlet.

OR

As the next stop on your journey, you could also explore Chur. With a settlement history of over 5000 years, Chur is the oldest city in Switzerland and the picturesque old town is considered one of the most fully preserved in the country. Especially worth seeing are the episcopal palace, the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, and the superbly preserved buildings in the old town.

Self-Guided (Train)

Day 4: St. Moritz

The Engadin Valley is a true nature and outdoor paradise. St. Moritz was not without reason the birthplace of winter tourism and hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it is the culture and tradition of this luxurious Alpine resort that has made it what it is today.

Start your winter adventure by heading up one of the Gondolas and sled down! A fun activity for every age!

For the afternoon we'd like to organize a horsedrawn carriage (sled) ride into one of the neighboring valleys.

Day 5: St. Moritz → Zermatt

Today we will add another highlight to your travel memories: The famous Glacier Express train ride. Over its entire length, the Glacier Express leads over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels over the Swiss Alps.

On your trip from St Moritz, the train winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct, and through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland.

Enjoy a wonderful day passing through the alps incl. a 4-course on-board menu.

Day 6 and 7: Zermatt

These two days are reserved for Skiing! A private instructor will be teaching you or your kids the necessary basics or help you/them to improve your skills

Situated at the foot of the popular Matterhorn, it is called Glacier City. It’s a winter training base for several ski teams from Europe and abroad. Additionally, you can ski here almost 365 days a year. How? Because some areas are directly on the glacier - so in the summer why not ski in the morning and relax in shorts in the afternoon? Zermatt has 3 main ski areas: Zermatt-Gornergrat-Stockhorn, Zermatt-Sunnegga-Rothorn, and Zermatt-Schwarzsee-Klein Matterhorn. The snowfields extend over the national borders from Klein Matterhorn to Italy.

Day 8: Zermatt → Montreux

Continuing your train ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from German to French. Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the rest of the day on the shores of Lake Geneva. A visit to the medieval Chillon Castle is always worth it.

Day 9: Montreux to Grindelwald

Today another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass.

Combine food and hiking - get yourself a prepacked fondue rucksack in Gstaad and walk/hike on the prepared winter paths to one of the giant fondue pots (seating areas) to enjoy your delicious fondue. The area of Gstaad and Zweisimmen is known for its cheese delicacies.

For hands-free traveling on this day, we'll organize a Luggage Express service (drop off your luggage at the reception in the morning and get it delivered on the same day between 6 and 11 pm at your new hotel).

Day 10: Grindelwald

Taster Course Snowshoeing: If you want to move through snowy winter landscapes and enjoy the tranquility of nature without skis, snowshoeing may be the perfect winter activity for you. During our snowshoeing taster course, you will learn ascent and descent techniques, equipment essentials, and basic avalanche awareness. This course will prepare you to join bigger guided snowshoe hikes or set you up for the basic skills snowshoeing course.

Day 11: Grindelwald → Lucerne

Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art.

Stroll around before you we will invite you on a boat cruise on Lake Lucerne.  Those who are interested in the history of Switzerland might want to hop off and visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore a confederation of the first three cantons was formed.

You might also want to take the oldest cogwheel train in Switzerland up Mount Rigi (included in your travel pass), departing right next to your hotel, and enjoy one of the many hikes up there.

Day 12: Lucerne:

Today is reserved to visit the house mountain Pilatus. Commissioned in 1889, a gradient of up to 48 percent, and about 30 minutes travel time: that is the steepest cogwheel railway in the world in figures. Meter by meter it scales the way from Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm, passing alpine meadows and striking rock formations.

Day 13: Lucerne → Zurich Airport

The airport is very well connected from Lucerne which will allow you to maybe get some souvenirs or just enjoy a hot coffee on the shores of the Lake.

We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your family until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
