Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

Day 1: Zurich Airport to St. Moritz

Your guide will meet you at the arrival hall at Zurich Airport and take you to the Rhine Valley. But let's start this tour Swiss-like: with chocolate! On your way to the Alps, we will pass the beautiful Lake Walen from where the mighty seven Churfirsten arise and will visit the House of Laederach chocolate factory.

Depending on your motivation and time of arrival we can do multiple shorter or longer stops along the way like Vaduz (capital of Liechtenstein), Churs' Old town, or take a detour for a scenic ride through the alps.

If you would like to do some shopping or equip yourselves for your next days in the mountains, you might want to stop by the Landquart fashion outlet.

Day 2: St. Moritz & the Engadin valley:

The Engadin Valley is a true nature and outdoor paradise. St. Moritz was not without reason the birthplace of winter tourism and hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it is the culture and tradition of this luxurious Alpine resort that has made it what it is today.

If you are interested and open to a 5-hour hike: The mountain hike from Maloja to Bivio is one of the most spectacular mountain pass hikes in the Alps – and right at the top of the pass, you will find Europe’s special triple watershed.

Have a break at the alpine cheesery Morteratsch and follow every step of making this swiss delicacy with your own eyes

Other outdoor experiences such as mountain biking or rafting could be discussed.

Guided Tour

Day 3: St. Moritz to Locarno:

Cross the Alps on the Bernina Express on the highest-altitude rail route in Europe, a UNESCO World Heritage railway line. You too can experience this fascinating panorama trip through the impressive countryside of Grisons.

Your guide will pick you up again in Tirano and accompany you along Lago Maggiore, to Lugano, which is the largest town in the Italian-speaking canton of Switzerland. The city with its Mediterranean flair lies in a bay on the northern side of Lake Lugano and we'll happily invite you for the best Pizza in Switzerland before we turn a little north for Locarno.

Day 4: Locarno: Biking Tour to Gotthard Pass

Cycle the alps! Either with or without electric help. A Swiss biking guide will be by your side. As it can get very hot during August you will leave very early in the morning to avoid the heat.

Even the Romans avoided the immense mass of the Gotthard. The Pass only gained significance around the year 1200, when the Schöllenen Ravine between Göschenen and Andermatt was developed. Today the Gotthard Pass is the main North-South connection, traversed by hikers, bikers, and other pass enthusiasts.

Day 5: Locarno to Gstaad:

Now that you are on the south side of the Alps we'd like to get you an extraordinary experience of Switzerland's landmarks and avoid the tourist crowds at the same time! Get on a private helicopter flight that will cover the Matterhorn as well as the Aletsch Gletscher.

Your guide will take care of your luggage and will meet you again in Gstaad. Have the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the service of your Grand Hotel as well as Gstaad itself and not to overwrite the memory of the helicopter experience.

In the late afternoon, your guide combines food and hiking/walking - we get ourselves a prepacked fondue rucksack and hike/walk to one of the giant fondue pots (seating areas) to enjoy your delicious fondue. The area of Gstaad and Zweisimmen is known for its cheese delicacies.

Day 6: Gstaad

Via Ferrata: Our mountain guides will take you into the stunning Alpine surroundings. Experience the most fascinating aspects of the mountains for yourself. Permanently anchored steel cables and ladders enable you to discover a mountain world that would otherwise only be accessible to seasoned climbers.

In the afternoon we'll take you to Gruyère - although a bit touristy the medieval town and castle are rightfully visited all year long.

Day 7: Gstaad to Lake Lucerne:

Today another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way through our "little piece of heaven"-country you'll arrive in the Bernese Oberland.

Your guide will pick you up in Interlaken: On our way to Lucerne, we will pass the blueish Lake Brienz and the Brünig Pass. On your way we'll visit the Aare gorge - In Haslital bei Meiringen the Aare River has cut a gorge in the limestone that is 200 meters deep in some places. Thanks to the walkways and tunnels, it is easy to hike through the entire gorge.

A quick stroll through Lucerne will round up this day: Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art.

If you'd like we'll invite you on a sunset boat cruise on the Lake.

Day 8: Lake Lucerne:

Activity, History, and/or Relaxing! Switzerland was founded around these shores of the Lake - so it is self-explaining that we can find out a lot more about Switzerland e.g. in the Swiss Forum Switzerland

If you are interested in the history of Switzerland by foot you might want to hop off the boat and hike part of the Switzerland trail or visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore a confederation of the first three cantons was formed.

Get pampered by the Parkhotel Vitznau - Our generous spa facilities include a heated infinity outdoor pool, Kneipp hydrotherapy, an ice grotto, a Finnish sauna, and a truly remarkable view, to ensure that your exclusive rest and relaxation oasis is everything you need.

To bring your trip to a worthy end: Just around the corner lies the Hotel Vitznauerhof with its Restaurant Sens. The Sens is located on the shores of Lake Lucerne, embedded in the Swiss Alps. Jeroen Achtien and his team cultivate a fermentation-based cuisine on the highest level. In February 2021, he and his team were awarded two stars, Michelin. Let us know if we shall make a reservation.
