Geneva to Saas-Fee
On this weekend trip from Geneva we will head to the beautiful Saas-Fee valley. Surrounded by many 4000m peaks and its many cable cars it is a great location for hikes, mountain biking, climbing, or even just enjoying the spectacular alpine scenery.
Day 1:
Meeting Point - 9 am Geneva Center
From Geneva we will head straight on into the Valais where we will enjoy our very first stop in Sion. We will go on a short hike to the castle of Valère and the castle ruins of Tourbillon - with the exceptional views over the castles and the valley it is a great start into this tour.
Shortly after we will discover the underground lake of St. Leonard. During a 30-minute boat trip on the crystal clear water, you will enjoy the peace of this amazing place while your guide explains all sorts of fascinating details about the origin and history of the underground lake.
We will arrive around 3 pm in Saas-Fee that will give you enough time to discover a bit of the Saas-valley yourself. With your included Saas-Card you can use the cable cars in the Saas Valley free of charge (except Metro Alpin). All PostBus rides in the Saas Valley are also included - so maybe you would like to check out the Marmots nearby? Your guide will show you where to go.
Rather take it easy? The Sunstar Saas-Fee offers an indoor swimming pool (12 x 4m), sauna and steam bath.
Day 2:
After your included breakfast we will start our hike by taking the cable car to Kreuzboden. From there we will follow the trail above the timberline - you can enjoy unspoiled nature and a fantastic view over the Saas Valley and the Mischabel chain with the highest mountains in Switzerland. It is a moderate hike with about 10km and takes about 3.5 to 4 hours. Your guide will lead you safely and tell stories about that area.
Before heading back to Geneva you get the opportunity to take a shower in your hotel or stroll in the alpine village of Saas-Fee.
We will be back in Geneva around 6 pm.
