Gruyère Cheesery

The Gruyère region in Switzerland is known for its rolling green landscape, peaks of the Fribourg Pre-Alps, and for being the home of the world-famous Gruyère cheese. The region is also home to the Lake of Gruyère, which is one of the finest artificial lakes in Switzerland and the black and white Fribourg cows which provide the milk for the strongly flavored Gruyère cheese.

The town of Gruyères, which is perched atop a small hill, is a picturesque medieval town that is traffic-free and surrounded by a fortified wall. The town has two castles, one of which is the 13th century castle which houses a museum that covers eight centuries of the architecture, history, and culture of the region.
