Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

Day 1: Zurich → Toggenburg

Your rental car will await you at Zurich Airport. From here, had on a 40-minute drive to Europe’s biggest waterfall: The Rhinefalls. Go on a short boat ride to visit the rock that has withstood the elements for a thousand years standing in the middle of the waterfall.

After this stop, continue towards Lake Constance and follow its shores until St Gallen to discover the UNESCO world heritage Abbey district. Its magnificent Baroque cathedral forms a unique historical ensemble. The Abbey Library - with Switzerland's most beautiful hall and ancient books will fascinate you. Your journey will then continue along the Rhine Valley and up to the Toggenburg.

Your hotel lies a little higher above the valley town in the middle of green fields, a lake close by and surrounded by local farms.

Day 2: Toggenburg

Nestled between the mighty Säntis massif and the seven Churfirsten peaks lies this pristine valley off the typical tourist path. Many longer hiking trails, short theme trails and even two barefoot paths await you.

My recommendation for you would be the soundtrail that starts just outside your hotel: Combine a pleasurable stroll in the fresh Toggenburg mountain air with a tuneful nature experience. At the foot of the Churfirsten mountain range, around 25 installations invite you to experiment with diverse sounds.

On clear day you can enjoy unsurpassed views of six countries from the top of the mighty Churfirsten mountains.

Day 3: Toggenburg – Lake Lucerne

Today you head back towards the Rhine Valley. Stop in the capital of the microstate Liechtenstein for a stroll through its car-free city center with its historical and art exhibitions, shops and restaurants.

Shortly after, you will head towards Lake Walen. Enjoy a boat ride to cross the lake towards the Seerenbach Falls and go on a short walk to this impressive natural spectacle. A waterjet spews forth from the rock 305 meters high. The water of the Rinquelle originates in a huge cave system deep in the Churfirsten mountains.

Before heading to Lucerne, visit the House of Läderach chocolate factory to learn all about this Swiss delicacy.

Self-Guided (Car)

Day 4: Lucerne

Enjoy the day in the Lake Lucerne Region. Your hotel lies on the shores of Lake Lucerne in one of its most prominent locations.

Hop on a historic boat and enjoy a scenic boat ride on Lake Lucerne. Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art. You may want to visit the Rütli Meadow. For Swiss people, Rütli is synonymous for the founding history of Switzerland. Nourished by the drama «William Tell» by Friedrich Schiller, it is for many people considered the place where the oath of the Swiss Confederation was born in 1291.

To round up the day we invite you on a cable car ride on top of the mighty Pilatus throning above Lucerne. Your kids will certainly enjoy the dragons' trail and the beautiful view of Lake Lucerne and the Alps.

Day 5: Lucerne

Today, we recommend you to visit Engelberg and the Titlis Glacier. In summer you can really let off some steam – either in the snow on the glacier or with the various activities around Trübsee, Jochpass and Engelberg.

As you mention that you enjoy learning about the culture and history, you might also be interested to visit the Ballenberg Open Air museum, an extensive exhibition with over 100 historic residential and agricultural buildings from all over Switzerland, illustrating rural life in Switzerland. In addition, traditional handicrafts are shown every day in the workshops of the openair museum including basket-weaving, forging, braiding, spinning, weaving and carving.

Day 6: Lucerne - Zurich Airport

The airport is very well connected from Lucerne which will allow you to maybe get some souvenirs or just enjoy a hot coffee on the shores of the Lake. If time allows you may want to go on a little detour into the canton of Aargau - the cultural heart of Switzerland. Numerous castles and historic places can be found here.

We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your family until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
