Trip Itinerary:
We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.
Day 1: Arrival in Zurich
Zurich Airport is perfectly connected to the city center. Your hotel is located in the heart of the old town - perfect for your day of arrival to still walk around, stretch out your legs after your flight and get an impression of Switzerland's biggest city.
A great way to discover Zurich and to learn a little more about its history are the Free Walking Tours.
Zurich's house mountain the Uetliberg is always worth a visit, as well as the numerous museums in and around the city. I'll provide you with my personal recommendations if you would like to.
Day 2: Zurich, Rhine Falls or St. Gallen
Depending on your preferences you could discover a little more in Zurich, such as the twin towers of the Grossmünster, which are not only Zurich's prominent landmark, visitors can also climb up the Karlsturm and enjoy a breathtaking view over the city.
Another option would be to leave Switzerland's largest city behind for the day and head up north to Europe's biggest waterfall - the Rhine Falls. By boat, you can get on the Rock in the middle of the falls to understand the power of this natural spectacle. On the other side of the falls lies Castle Laufen.
A third option would be the UNESCO world heritage Abbey district of St. Gallen. Its magnificent Baroque cathedral forms a unique historical ensemble. The Abbey Library - with Switzerland's most beautiful hall and ancient books will fascinate you.
Everything is easily accessible by train from Zurich.
Day 3: Zurich → Engadin
Today your journey will take you further south towards St Moritz in the Engadin. The Engadin Valley is a true nature and outdoor paradise. It was not without reason the birthplace of winter tourism and hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it is the culture and tradition of this luxurious Alpine resort that has made it what it is today.
On your way into the Alps, you will pass the beautiful Lake Walen from where the mighty seven Churfirsten arise. A short boat cruise will bring you to the Seerenbachfalls, the highest waterfalls in Switzerland. It is only a short walk to get closer to this natural spectacle. A small farm restaurant invites to linger around.
If you would like to do some shopping or equip yourselves for your next days in the mountains, you might want to stop by at the Landquart fashion outlet.

Day 4: Engadin
Today you have the whole day to explore this beautiful region. Enjoy a train ride on the UNESCO world heritage Bernina train offering breathtaking views on the surrounding peaks, take the cable car to Diavolezza with its impressive glacier panorama, or visit the alpine cheesery Morteratsch.
I am also happy to share one or two walking options that will work for you.
Day 5: Engadin → Aletsch Arena
Today we will add another highlight to your travel memories: The famous Glacier Express train ride. Over its entire length, the Glacier Express leads over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels over the Swiss Alps. Sit back and relax while the train winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct, and through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland. A 3-course menu rounds everything up.
Day 6: Aletsch Arena → Zermatt
The small alpine town Fiesch lies on the foot of the Eggishorn, part of the Aletsch Arena. Aletsch, the largest glacier of the Alps can be best admired from this side of the valley. An easy hike up to Eggishorn (2 927m) is our suggestion and also probably one of the easiest ways to get up close to almost 3 000m.
Day 7: Zermatt
The car-free town of Zermatt is located at the foot of the Matterhorn. The peak lift takes you up to the 360º viewing platform on Europe’s highest mountain station 'Klein Matterhorn', from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers. A must-see is also Zermatt’s glacier paradise.
Later on today you can also enjoy a train ride on the Gorner Grat. My personal highlight on a hot day is the Gorner Gorge.
Day 8: Zermatt → Montreux
Continuing your train ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from German to French. Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the afternoon on the shores of Lake Geneva. A visit to the medieval Chillon Castle would be highly recommended for you.
Day 9: Montreux → Bern
Today another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass.
The medieval town of Gruyère is home to the namesake AOP cheese and close by in Broc you can visit the chocolate museum of one of the biggest chocolate manufacturers.
Day 10: Bern → Lucerne
Spend a little time in Bern, with its cute Old-Town which is also a UNESCO world heritage site. Are you aware that the bear is not only the symbol of the canton? Bears live in the city center in a pit right on the other riverside of the old town.
Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art.
Day 11: Lake Lucerne
Those who are interested in the history of Switzerland might want to take the boat to cross the lake and visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore a confederation of the first three cantons was formed. The nearby city of Schwyz has a great exhibition of Swiss history.
As a final highlight, we will include the oldest cogwheel train of Switzerland up to the top of Mount Rigi, the queen of all mountains. Enjoy once more the scenery of the Alps and Lake Lucerne.
Day 12: Lucerne → Zurich Airport
The airport is very well connected from Lucerne which will allow you to maybe get some souvenirs or just enjoy a hot coffee on the shores of the Lake.
We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your family until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
