Grindelwald

Grindelwald, a hamlet in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland, is surrounded by a towering mountain range that includes the Wetterhorn and the Eiger north face.

It is one of the most well-known and cosmopolitan vacation and excursion destinations in Switzerland due to its mountainous terrain and abundance of lookout sites and activities. Grindelwald is a major ski resort in the Jungfrau region.

The town's accessibility was greatly improved in the late 19th century with the construction of roads and railways, which marked the beginning of winter tourism in the area. In 1908, the first cableway in the Alps was built on the Wetterhorn and in 1912, a railway reached the Jungfraujoch via Kleine Scheidegg.
