Trip Itinerary:
We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.
Day 1: Arrival in Zurich
Your rental car can be picked up directly from the airport. Your hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the city center. The famous shopping street "Bahnhofstrasse" and the old town of Zurich are within short walking distance. After your flight, a city stroll through Zurich might be enough for the day. We will provide you with a little map and information.
Day 2: Zurich – Giessbach
On your way from Zurich to the Bernese Oberland we recommend stopping in Lucerne. Sitting on the foot of Mount Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art. Enjoy a boat ride on the lake before continuing your journey toward the Alps.
At the end of today, the Grandhotel Giessbach welcomes you. The Giessbach Falls tumble right past the Grand Hotel in 14 tiers, plunging over 400 meters into lake Brienz. Various trails run along the waterfall.
Day 3: Jungfrau region
Today is reserved for the beautiful Jungfrau region which boasts a plethora of activities and spectacular views of the famous Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains. You can enjoy over 500km of hiking trails, head up one of the many mountains such as the Jungfraujoch, visit the famous Kander valley with the crystal blue Blausee and Oeschinensee, or the Lauterbrunnen valley with its many waterfalls. We will provide you with our personal recommendations.
Day 4: Giessbach – Aletsch Glacier
Today's journey is a highlight in itself. As a first stop, we recommend visiting the Aare gorge. It was formed over thousands of years by the Aare Glacier. Discover, feel and experience a natural wonder up close.
Your journey then takes you over the Grimsel alpine pass into the canton of Valais and to the Aletsch Arena. Shortly before your arrival, we recommend stopping at the 280-metre long Goms suspension bridge.
Your hotel is an experience itself: They have maintained the decades, from 1844 to 1977, they have created a journey through time for you and also incorporated influences from today. This makes it unique among the Historic Hotels.

Day 5: Aletsch Glacier
Aletsch, the largest glacier of the Alps can be best admired from this side of the valley. An easy hike up to Eggishorn (2 927m) is our easier hike suggestion, but if you are sure-footed and not scared of heights we will share our recommendation for one of the most scenic hikes (partly climb) from where you can enjoy the scene of the Aletsch glacier and the surrounding 4000m peaks best. On clear days the peaks Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, as well as the famous Matterhorn, can be seen.
Day 6: Aletsch – Zermatt
Today’s journey will take you further into the canton of Valais and up to Zermatt. The car-free town of Zermatt is located at the foot of the Matterhorn. A cute village, spectacular mountain panoramas, and scenic hiking paths welcome you.
Day 7: Zermatt
Get ready to climb (hike) your first 4 000m peak - the Breithorn. This tour is a perfect way to get a sense of high Alpine air for the first time, but only for surefooted and experienced hikers accompanied by a mountain guide. In the early morning, you take the cable car to the Matterhorn glacier paradise at 3,883 m from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers.
The climb to the top and the descent afterward lasts about three hours depending on the conditions. After the climb, we recommend visiting the Glacier Palace in the Matterhorn glacier paradise. It is carved into the glacier and displays many ice sculptures and centuries-old ice formations.
Day 8: Zermatt – Evolène
Today you will head from the German- to the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Further along the Valais, you will find the calm valley of Evolène, where one of Switzerland's historic hotels awaits you. Way off the touristic paths and in the middle of a beautiful pine forest, the Grand Hotel & Kurhaus Arolla is located 2100 meters above sea level. The building dates from 1896 and is full of history which can be felt and seen throughout the hotel. It has a fantastic view over the glacier landscape and is a great base to explore the nature around, including a crystal blue lake that you can only reach by foot.
Day 9: Evolène – Gstaad
On the way, we recommend stopping at the Fairy’s Cave. It was the first tourist cave opened to the public in Switzerland and offers since 150 years a natural show of rock and water. From here you turn back north via a small mountain pass to enter the Zweisimmenvalley towards Gstaad.
For the afternoon we'd like to invite you to mix up hiking and food: Get one of the prepacked Fondue rucksacks and find one of these giant fondue pots and enjoy your delicious fondue.
Day 10: Gstaad - Bern
Today the main subject rests on cheese! it is only a short drive to Gruyère - home to the namesake AOP cheese and the neighboring Broc is home to one of the biggest chocolate factories/museums. On your way, we'd like to show you one of the alpine cheeseries with a little degustation and a demonstration of how to make cheese.
In the Cailler chocolate museum, the tour of about one hour leads you through the history of chocolate, from Aztec cocoa ceremonies to the innovations of today.
For your last night, Bern is awaiting you.
Day 11: Bern - Airport Zurich
Depending on how much time you have left, you certainly want to discover Bern a little. Bern is a friendly city with many museums, shops and its old town with UNESCO World Heritage status. Did you know that the bear is not only the symbol of the capital but bears actually live in the city?
With only 1,5 hours from Bern, Zurich airport is easily accessible. We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
