Valais

The Valais is a canton in southern Switzerland. It's home to the pyramid-shaped Matterhorn mountain, upscale Alpine resorts and upper Rhône River Valley vineyards. In the east you can visit the huge Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps, and it is the home canton of the famous resort town Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn, offering numerous ski slopes and hiking routes. Zermatt is also a starting point for the scenic Glacier Express train. But the Valais has also a lot to offer if you are looking for more off-the-beaten-track destinations and experiences.
