Ticino

Ticino is an Italian-speaking region in the south of Switzerland. With its palm trees, piazzas and Italian-influenced cuisine it has a lovely Mediterranean flair with the surrounding Alpine peaks offering an interesting contrast. The picturesque towns Locarno and Ascona, as well as Lugano with its lakefront promenades, are all worth a visit. So is Bellinzona, the capital of Ticino, with its three UNESCO World Heritage Site listed castles
