Trip Itinerary:
We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.
Day 1: Zurich Airport → Montreux (guided)
Your driver guide will pick you up at the arrival hall at the Zurich Airport and will accompany you to Montreux.
If time allows we would suggest strolling around in Bern's cute Old-Town which is also a UNESCO world heritage site; and are you aware that the bear is not only the symbol of the canton? Bears live in the city center in a pit right on the other riverside of the old town (even though they might be in hibernation during your stay).
The Christmas market on the shores of Lake Geneva will just have started and is right outside of your hotel.
Day 2: Montreux (guided)
Today a magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass.
Your guide will combine food and walking - we'll get ourselves a prepacked fondue rucksack and walk to one of the giant fondue pots (seating areas) to enjoy a delicious fondue. The area of Gstaad and Zweisimmen ist known for ist cheese delicacies.
Let's continue to treat your taste buds: Close to Gstaad and the fondue pots lies the Maison Caillier. A tour through the history of Swiss chocolate incl. a degustation will make you understand what Swiss chocolate is all about.
Day 3: Montreux → Zermatt (guided)
A visit to the medieval Chillon Castle is always worth it and we'll invite you on a guided in-depth castle tour followed by a wine degustation.
Continuing your ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from French to German before it's time to enter the train and get to Zermatt on foot of the famous Matterhorn.

Day 4: Zermatt (self-guided)
The peak lift takes you up to the 360º viewing platform on Europe’s highest mountain station 'Klein Matterhorn', from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers. A must-see is also Zermatt’s glacier paradise.
Optional for the afternoon: You wander in subterranean rooms through authentic mountain huts and hear the wind roaring on the mountain: the museum of Zermatlantis in the heart of the village Zermatt lets visitors immerse themselves in the adventurous events that took place on the Matterhorn.
Or enjoy the afternoon in the Spa area of the Beau Site hotel.
Day 5: Zermatt → Grindelwald (self-guided via train)
Via the beautiful Kandervalley and Lötschbergtunnel, you will arrive in the canton of Valais. Only one more train ride away lies Zermatt. The car-free town of Zermatt is located at the foot of Switzerland's landmark - the impressive Matterhorn.
Enjoy the rest of the afternoon in this snow paradise (typically a month before Christmas the slopes open their gates for the Skiseason - but also sledding is a lot of fun for every age!)
Day 6: Grindelwald (self-guided)
Grindelwald is located on the foot of the notorious Eiger North Face. The last alpine challenge is feared and admired for centuries. Right next to it rise the snowy peaks of the Mönch and Jungfrau.
This day is reserved to explore the Jungfraujoch: Icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches underfoot, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Mittelland towards the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch Glacier, lined with four thousand meter peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.
Day 7: Grindelwald → Lucerne (guided)
You'll stay a little longer in the Bernese Oberland and continue your journey to the Lauterbrunnen valley: In 1911, the 19-year-old J.R.R. Tolkien hikes through the Swiss Alps – and of course through the Lauterbrunnen Valley with its steep rockfaces. Hardly anyone knows that he found his inspiration for the landscape in «Lord of the Rings» here. Yes, really: those who know the books and films immediately have the feeling they've been thrown into Middle-Earth.
Just outside of Lucerne we'll find the Hergiswil Glassworks which have been located at Lake Lucerne since 1817. At that time, the Glassworks was a production site with ideal transportation routes for wood fuel and goods. The tradition of craftsmanship continues to live on within the framework of modern design. We'll invite you on a short tour of the factory and museum.
Day 8: Lucerne (self-guided)
Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art.
Stroll around the beautiful Old Town before we will invite you on a boat cruise on Lake Lucerne. If you are interested in the history of Switzerland you might want to hop off and visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore a confederation of the first three cantons was formed.
We will also include the oldest cogwheel train of Europe up to the top of Mount Rigi, the queen of all mountains. Up there you'll also find the Rigi Kaltbad thermal bath for relaxation and spa treatments (reservations are only needed for potential massages or other treatments).
Day 9: Lucerne → Departure from Zurich (self-guided with private shuttle)
We will organize a private transfer to Zurich Airport from your hotel in Lucerne. The airport is very well connected from Lucerne which will allow you to maybe get some souvenirs or just enjoy a hot coffee on the shores of the Lake.
We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your family until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
