Trip Itinerary:
We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.
Day 1: Zurich to Lucerne
Your driver guide will pick you up from the airport or train station (depending on how you arrive from Slovenia). It is not a long ride from Zurich and Lucerne's Old Town is rated every year among the most beautiful towns in the world. We will quickly stroll around and depending on your time of arrival I would like to invite you to have a first mountain experience on the "queen of the Mountains" Mount Rigi.
To actually "arrive" that day I'll make a reservation at the Schweizerhof Lucerne - at the most prominent location of the City of Lights Lucerne, your room will have a balcony with a great view of the town, lake, and the surrounding mountains. Great for an Apero! Ever heard of Apero? It's something very common here in Switzerland - it's basically a snack and drink before dinner.
Day 2: Lucerne to Aletsch Arena
The best way to cross Lake Lucerne is a scenic boat cruise. Winding its way through the mountain scenery is a perfect way to get some scenic views of famous mountains like the Stanserhorn, Mount Rigi, and Pilatus. Your driver-guide will pick you up on the other end to continue your ride into the Alps.
If you are interested in the history of Switzerland you might want to cross the lake and visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore the confederation of the first three cantons was formed.
On this day we will make shorter and longer stops such as the Devils Bridge or the Rhone Glacier. the ride itself is already a highlight, passing multiple alpine passes. Your hotel is a unique place where history comes alive.
Day 3: Hiking in the Aletsch Arena
The small alpine town of Fiesch lies on the foot of the Eggishorn, part of the Aletsch Arena. Aletsch, the largest glacier of the Alps can be best admired from this side of the valley. An easy hike up to Eggishorn (2 927m) is our easier hike suggestion.
You already indicated a good level of fitness. How about steady feet and not scared of heights? Both no problem, then we would like to invite you for one of the most scenic hikes (partly climb) from where you can enjoy the scene of the Aletsch glacier and the surrounding 4000m peaks best. On clear days the peaks Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, as well as the famous Matterhorn, can be seen.

Day 4: Aletsch Arena to Zermatt
We will wind our way through the canton of Vallis with shorter stops for example at one of the spectacular suspension bridges.
Your guide will accompany you to Zermatt from where the tour will be continued as a self-guided trip. But don't worry: We will prepare everything for you, so you can easily enjoy the next few days on some beautiful train rides.
The car-free town of Zermatt is located at the foot of Switzerland's landmark - the impressive Matterhorn. Later on today you can also enjoy a train ride on the Gorner Grat. My personal highlight on a hot day is the Gorner Gorge.
Day 5: Zermatt
Get ready to climb (hike) your first 4 000m peak - the Breithorn. This private tour is a perfect way to get a sense of high Alpine air for the first time, but only for surefooted and experienced hikers accompanied by a mountain guide. In the early morning, you take the cable car to the Matterhorn glacier paradise at 3,883 m. The climb to the top and the descent afterward lasts about three hours depending on the conditions.
You will get back to the Glacier Paradise with its 360º viewing platform on Europe’s highest mountain station 'Klein Matterhorn', from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers. Stay around for a while and don't forget to check out the ice art inside of the glacier.
Day 6: Zermatt to Montreux
Continuing your train ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from German to French. Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the rest of the day on the shores of Lake Geneva.
A visit to the medieval Chillon Castle is always worth it.
Day 7: Montreux and Zweisimmen
In the morning, we will organize a degustation tour through the vine terraces of Lavaux (another UNESCO world heritage).
Later on another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass.
Today I recommend combining food and hiking - get yourself a prepacked fondue rucksack and hike to one of the giant fondue pots (seating areas) to enjoy your delicious fondue. The area of Gstaad and Zweisimmen is known for its cheese delicacies.
Day 8: Montreux to Basel
Stroll around in Bern's cute Old-Town which is also a UNESCO world heritage site; and are you aware that the bear is not only the symbol of the canton? Bears live in the city center in a pit right on the other riverside of the old town.
Basel is rich in sights and art museums. The fondation Beyeler provides a world-class collection of artworks and is considered one of the world's most beautiful museums. If time allows you should also just wander around in Basel's Old-town - it's worth it!
Day 9: Basel
Departure: We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
