Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

Day 1: Arrival Zurich Airport to Toggenburg:

Your guide for the first couple of days will meet pick you up at the airport and will accompany you directly into the Alpstein mountains. With an early arrival, we could discuss a detour for a quick stroll through Zurich.

Off the beaten track, this location provides one of the most spectacular mountain sceneries - the Alpstein mountains might be comparatively small, but due to their geological formations, they are even more spectacular. Your hotel will be right in the middle of this idyllic mountain scenery with a cute lake close by and everything surrounded by cow farmers.

Day 2: Toggenburg:

Let us dive into this scenery and we'll use one of the smallest and oldest "Gondolas" that exist in Switzerland. From here we'll only hike back to your hotel, all along the sound trail.

The Toggenburg Sound Trail is a very special musical experience. This adventure trail stretches over multiple stages, from Alp Sellamatt to Iltios and as far as Oberdorf, combining all kinds of curiosities with the most beautiful landscapes. A thrilling route for curious nature lovers.

For Lunch, we'll get the modern Gondola up the Chäserugg mountain with its station and restaurant designed by the world-famous architects Herzog & de Meuron.

Day 3:  Toggenburg to Vitznau (Lake Lucerne)

We take a quick detour to cross of 1 more country during your stay: Liechtenstein. Fairly small we'll have a quick walk through the capital of Vaduz.

Following the blueish Lake Walen and then turning southwest we'll arrive at the Caves of Baar.  From here it is only a short ride through Switzerlands backcountry before we'll arrive in Schwyz, the crip of Switzerland to learn more about Swiss history and Lake Lucerne.

Your hotel is a gem a little outside of Lucerne - away from the crowds, with an amazing view and phenomenal kitchen. Your guide will leave you here to continue your trip as a self-guided tour.

Guided & Self-Guided

Day 4: Vitznau: Mt. Rigi or around Lake Lucerne:

You'll decide: With your Swiss travel pass you have full flexibility on all public transportation. Get on the boat to discover Lake Lucerne or take up the cogwheel train (included in the STP) up to mt. Rigi.

The Rigi, also known as the Queen of Mountains, towers majestically between Lakes Lucerne, Zug and Lauerz. The highest point on the Rigi-Kulm at 1,797m asl is where visitors can admire a magnificent panorama over Lake Lucerne and the nearby Alps, and to the Swiss Plateau looking north. Perfect for any shorter or longer hikes.

Those who are interested in the history of Switzerland might want to take the boat and hike part of the Switzerland trail or visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore a confederation of the first three cantons was formed.

Day 5: Vitznau to Grindelwald:

Via boat you'll arrive in Lucerne: Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art. Leave your luggage behind at the train station and stroll a bit through this setting.

The train ride to Interlaken is very scenic over the Brünig pass and along the blueish Lake of Brienz.

Day 6: Grindelwald

This day is reserved to explore the Jungfraujoch: Icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches underfoot, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Mittelland towards the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch Glacier, lined with four thousand meter peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

On your way down you could start hiking back to Grindelwald via the famous Eiger trail.

Day 7: Grindelwald to Gstaad:

Another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment!

Combine food and hiking - get yourself a prepacked fondue rucksack and hike to one of the giant fondue pots (seating areas) to enjoy your delicious fondue. The area of Gstaad and Zweisimmen is known for its cheese delicacies.

Day 8: Gstaad: Excursion to Gruyère

Gruyère, home to the famous Gruyère AOP cheese is only a stone's throw away. Stroll through this medieval town and visit the Cheesery of this world-known cheese!

Close by you can also find the Maison Cailler: This sense of imagination is paired with presentations on the different stages in the Cailler chocolate production process, which are relayed as part of the interactive audiovisual guided tour. Through cameras, the visitors can watch live as the ingredients of chocolate are processed. If possible we'll book you a Chocolate workshop so you can become a chocolate champion yourself!

Day 9: Gstaad to Montreux:

Continue with the Golden Pass train.

As part of your travel arrangement we will include the entry into the Chateau Chillon: If ever a castle could fit the fairy-tale bill, the dashingly handsome Château de Chillon would be it, with its moat, double ramparts and riot of turrets and towers, plus knockout views of Lake Geneva and the French Alps.

Enjoy also some time at the Montreux Riviera.

Day 10: Montreux: Excursion to Geneva:

Follow the northern shoreline of Geneva and explore the city - home of the UN, ICRC, and numerous other NGOs. Stroll through Geneva's Old Town, climb up the tower of the St. Pierre Cathedral and talk a walk along the shores in the English Garden to Geneva's landmark - the Jet d'eau.

CERN - Find out more about the Big Bang! (tours are free of charge, but available only on-site).

Discover the largest particle physics laboratory in the World.

Day 11: Montreux to Venice:

Early in the morning leaves the direct train. Passing the alps, Milan and northern Italy it'll lead you to Venice within 7 hours of scenic train riding!

We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your family until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
