Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

General Information:

All Hotels (except the Tradition Julen in Zermatt) offer A/C. In Zermatt though A/C is not necessary as the windows can be opened and due to the high altitude the rooms won't get too hot.

Laundry is available in all hotels (though it is a bit expensive). I'll put it in the final itinerary where laundry service is available and makes the most sense to do.

Day 1&2: Self-guided in Zurich with Airport shuttle and private guided city walk

Day 3-6: with private driver guide

Day 7: self-guided in Zermatt

Day 8: self-guided transfer with luggage express service to Grindelwald

Day 9: self-guided in Grindelwald (Jungfraujoch)

Day 10-12: with private driver guide

Day 13: Private Shuttle to Zurich Airport

Day 1: Zurich Arrival

Willkommen in der Schweiz -Welcome to Switzerland!

We will organize a private transfer from Zurich Airport to your hotel, located in the heart of the city, close to the famous Bahnhofstrasse (shopping district) and right in Zurich's Old Town - perfect for your day of arrival to go spontaneously for a short walk and get an impression of Switzerland's biggest city.

To get rid of the Jetlag you may want to climb up the twin towers of the Grossmünster, which are not only Zurich's prominent landmark, but you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the city.

Day 2: Zurich:

A private guide will pick you up at your hotel for a foodie tour through Zurich. This walking tour gives food connoisseurs the opportunity to visit the restaurants most popular with local residents. You will get a feel for Zurich´s dining and drinking culture as your tour guide explains the story behind the city´s ‘culinary revolution´ and the transformation of Zurich-West from an industrial area to a cultural hotspot.

With your Zurich city pass you can hop on, and hop off every bus, train, and tram that is around. This gives you full flexibility to visit one of the many museums or enjoy the view from Zurichs own "house mountain" - the Uetliberg.

Day 3: Zurich → Lausanne

Meet your guide - Your guide will meet you at the hotel and you will leave Switzerland's largest city behind for Bern. Our capital is not to be underestimated. It is not just the seat of our parliament, it is also a UNESCO heritage - did you know, that the bear is not only the symbol of Bern? Bears live in the city!

To round things up, we will stop by Murten and discover this cute medieval town.

Lausanne: The setting of this is extremely picturesque: it is hardly surprising that the International Olympic Committee has been based here since 1914. The town is built on three hills, surrounded by vineyard-covered slopes, with Lake Geneva at its feet. Rising impressively from the opposing French lakeshore are the Savoy Alps.

Guided Tour

Day 4: Lausanne: Day Excursion to Geneva

In the morning explore the vine terraces of Lavaux (another UNESCO world heritage) and go on a guided walk which ends up with a degustation of our local wines. There is a reason why Switzerland does not export that much of its own wine - we like to enjoy it ourselves!

Then we will stroll around in Geneva, through its old-town, the flower watch, or the famous Jet-d'eau. To round up a visit to this international city we try to organize a tour through the CERN (tours are free of charge and can only be booked on-site).

Day 5: Montreux: Day Excursion to Gruyère

Today a magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass. (If possible we'll book the VIP seats in front of the train - availability not announced yet).

On the other side, your driver guide will pick you up for a Swiss chocolate experience in the Maison Cailler, before its time for a stopover in Gruyère, its cheesery, and the castle.

Day 6: Montreux → Zermatt (self-guided)

We'll start the day with a visit to the medieval Chillon Castle

Continuing your ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from French to German with some stops to discover that valley a little closer. Arriving in Zermatt you'll have the afternoon to linger around and enjoy the beautiful scenery on foot of the Matterhorn.

With no time to waste, you'll visit the Gorner Grat for a beautiful view of the Alps.

Day 7: Zermatt: (self-guided)

Time to get closer to the Matterhorn - The peak lift takes you up to the 360º viewing platform on Europe’s highest mountain station 'Klein Matterhorn', from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers. A must-see is also Zermatt’s glacier paradise.

Optional: In the afternoon you'll have time to visit the Zermatlantis.

Day 8: Zermatt → Grindelwald (self-guided)

Hands-free traveling: Don't worry about your luggage. We'll include a Luggage Express Service (leave your bags at your hotel reception until 9 am - it will get delivered on the same day to your new hotel between 6-11 pm).

Today your journey takes you from the canton of Valais to the Bernese Oberland.

Grindelwald is located on the foot of the notorious Eiger North Face. The last alpine challenge is feared and admired for centuries. Right next to it rise the snowy peaks of the Mönch and Jungfrau.

Day 9: Grindelwald: (self-guided)

This day is reserved to explore the Jungfraujoch: Icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches underfoot, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Mittelland towards the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch Glacier, lined with four thousand meter peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

Day 10: Grindelwald:

Your guide will meet you again and will take the cable car up to the 2,970-metre Schilthorn to enjoy the stunning view of the famous Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The Schilthorn became famous as a location for the 1969 James Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”.

We'll continue your journey to the Lauterbrunnen valley: In 1911, the 19-year-old J.R.R. Tolkien hikes through the Swiss Alps – and of course through the Lauterbrunnen Valley with its steep rockfaces. Hardly anyone knows that he found his inspiration for the landscape in «Lord of the Rings» here. Yes, really: those who know the books and films immediately have the feeling they've been thrown into Middle-Earth.

Day 11: Grindelwald → Lucerne

We will visit the beautiful Aare gorge: In Haslital Meiringen the Aare River has cut a gorge in the limestone that is 200 meters deep in some places. Thanks to the walkways and tunnels, it is easy to hike through the entire gorge.

We'll later visit Lucerne's house mountain - the Pilatus. Commissioned in 1889, a gradient of up to 48 percent, and about 30 minutes travel time: that is the steepest cogwheel railway in the world in figures. Meter by meter it scales the way from Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm, passing alpine meadows and striking rock formations.

Day 12: Lucerne:

Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art. We'll start the day with a chocolate-making workshop.

The Verkehrshaus:

The Swiss Museum of Transport takes a fascinating, interactive look at the development of transport and mobility on road, rail and water, not forgetting air and space travel. On display are more than 3,000 objects, simulators, multimedia shows and interactive exhibits occupying an area some 20,000 m2 in size. A fun excursion for every age!

Day 13: Lucerne → Zurich Airport:

Lucerne and Zurich airport is very well connected which might give you some extra time to linger around or get a souvenir from Switzerland. We'll organize a private shuttle that will bring you on time and leave you with many unforgettable moments from Switzerland.
