Day 1 (13.07.2023): Arrival Basel:

Your hotel is right in the heart of Basel. Perfect for walking around and strolling through the Basel's Old-town after your Viking Cruise.

Basel is widely regarded as Switzerland's cultural capital - rich in sights and art museums. Optional: The fondation Beyeler provides a world-class collection of artworks and is considered one of the world's most beautiful museums.

Day 2: Basel → Lucerne:

Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art.

Enjoy the afternoon to explore the town to its fullest and also the ambiance of the Chateau Gütsch.

Day 3 Lucerne:

Enjoy the day on the shores of Lake Lucerne. If you are interested in the history of Switzerland you might want to hop off the boat and hike part of the Switzerland trail or visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore a confederation of the first three cantons was formed.

Or take the oldest cogwheel train in Switzerland up to the top of Mount Rigi, the ‘queen of all mountains’.

Day 4: Lucerne → Engadin Valley

Off into the "real" mountains: As this day requires some train changes we'd like to recommend the door-to-door luggage service for a handsfree day through Switzerland (drop off your luggage before 9 am at your reception and get your bags back in St. Moritz between 6 and 11 pm the same day).

As the first stop on your journey, you could also explore Chur. With a settlement history of over 5000 years, Chur is the oldest city in Switzerland and the picturesque old town is considered one of the most fully preserved in the country. Especially worth seeing are the episcopal palace, the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, and the superbly preserved buildings in the old town.

If you would like to do some shopping or equip yourselves for your next days in the mountains, you might want to stop by at the Landquart fashion outlet.

Self-Guided (Train)

Day 5: Engadin Valley

The Engadin Valley is a true nature and outdoor paradise. St. Moritz was not without reason the birthplace of winter tourism and hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it is the culture and tradition of this luxurious Alpine resort that has made it what it is today.

Go on a train ride on the Bernina tracks to Alp Grüm (included in your stay). Offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers this UNESCO world heritage doesn't leave any wishes open.  For cheese lovers: Have a break at the alpine cheesery Morteratsch and follow every step of making this swiss delicacy with your own eyes

Day 6: Engadin → Zermatt

Today we will add another highlight to your travel memories: The famous Glacier Express train ride (8 hours). Over its entire length, the Glacier Express leads over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels over the Swiss Alps.

On your trip from St Moritz, the train winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct, and through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland.

Day 7: Zermatt:

You will have the chance to discover Zermatt on the foot of Switzerland's natural landmark - the Matterhorn.

Take up the cable car to the Glacier Paradise, Europe's highest cable car station (3883 meters). One of the highlights is certainly the platform with a view over 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers of the Swiss, Italian and French Alps.

Day 8: Zermatt → Grindelwald:

Hands-free traveling: Don't worry about your luggage. We'll include a Luggage Express Service.

Today your journey takes you from the canton of Valais to the Bernese Oberland.

Grindelwald is located on the foot of the notorious Eiger North Face. The last alpine challenge is feared and admired for centuries. Right next to it rise the snowy peaks of the Mönch and Jungfrau.

Day 9: Grindelwald: (self-guided)

This day is reserved to explore the Jungfraujoch: Icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches underfoot, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Mittelland towards the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch Glacier, lined with four thousand meter peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

Day 10: Grindelwald→ Montreux

Today another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass.

If you want you can hop off the Golden Pass and take a connecting train to the medieval town of Gruyère and the namesake AOP cheese. A lunch stop here is absolutely worth it. (Please be aware that the town is up the hill from the train station and requires a bit of uphill walking).

Day 11: Montreux:

Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the afternoon on the shores of Lake Geneva. As part of your travel arrangement we will include the entry into the Chateau Chillon: If ever a castle could fit the fairy-tale bill, the dashingly handsome Château de Chillon would be it, with its moat, double ramparts and riot of turrets and towers, plus knockout views of Lake Geneva and the French Alps.

Optional: If you'd like you can take the train back into the Alps and visit the Barryland. The living museum, located in the former armory next to the Roman amphitheater and the community center, brings everyone together to dive in the world of the legendary Saint Bernard dogs from the Great St. Bernard.

Day 12: Montreux → Geneva

Follow the northern shoreline to Geneva, home of the UN, ICRC, and numerous other NGOs. Stroll through Geneva's Old Town, climb up the tower of the St. Pierre Cathedral and talk a walk along the shores in the English Garden to Geneva's landmark - the Jet d'eau. If you are anyhow into science: The CERN - Find out more about the Big Bang! (tours are free of charge, but available only on-site).

Day 13 (22.07.2023): Geneva → Paris

The TGV its the best way to travel to Paris. Within 3.5 hours this high-speed train takes you to Paris, the capital of France. It is known for its iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre Museum.

You can also stroll along the Seine River, relax in the Luxembourg Gardens, and explore the charming neighborhoods of Montmartre and Le Marais. The city is also renowned for its art, fashion, and haute cuisine. We'll provide you with our recommendations (even though we're not specialized for France).

We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your travel companion until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
