Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

Day 1: Arrival in Zurich (self-guided, train)

Zurich Airport is perfectly connected to the city center by public transport. With only 15 minutes by train, I wouldn't recommend taking a taxi instead. Your hotel is located conveniently close to the main train station and the famous Bahnhofstrasse.  I'll make sure, you can check in early (arrival at the Airport at 9 am).  A great way to discover Zurich and to learn a little more about its history are the Free Walking Tours.

Zurich's house mountain the Uetliberg is always worth a visit, as well as the numerous museums in and around the city. I'll provide you with my personal recommendations if you would like to so you can choose yourself on your day of arrival of how much you would like to stretch out your legs after your transatlantic flight.

Day 2: Zurich → Engadin Valley (self-guided, train)

On your way to the Alps, you will pass the beautiful Lake Walen from where the mighty seven Churfirsten arise. A boat cruise will bring you to the Seerenbachfalls, the highest waterfalls in Switzerland. It is only a short walk to get closer to this natural spectacle. A small farm restaurant invites to linger around.

If you would like to do some shopping or equip yourselves for your next days in the mountains, you might want to stop by at the Landquart fashion outlet.

FYI: All train stations in Switzerland have lockers for your luggage if you want to not carry around all of your belongings.

Day 3: Engadin Valley (self-guided, train)

The Engadin Valley is a true nature and outdoor paradise. St. Moritz was not without reason the birthplace of winter tourism and hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it is the culture and tradition of this luxurious Alpine resort that has made it what it is today.

Enjoy this spectacular train ride on the UNESCO world heritage Bernina train to Tirano (Italy) offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and lakes. Take the cable car to Diavolezza with its impressive glacier panorama, or visit the alpine cheesery Morteratsch

Guided & Self-Guided

Day 4: Zermatt (self-guided, train)

Today we will add another highlight to your travel memories: The famous Glacier Express train ride. Over its entire length, the Glacier Express leads over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels over the Swiss Alps. Sit back and relax while the train winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct, and through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland.  A 3-course menu rounds everything up.

Day 5: Zermatt (self-guided)

The car-free town of Zermatt is located at the foot of Switzerland's landmark - the impressive Matterhorn. The peak lift takes you up to the 360º viewing platform on Europe’s highest mountain station 'Klein Matterhorn', from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers. A must-see is also Zermatt’s glacier paradise.

Later on today you can also enjoy a train ride on the Gorner Grat. My personal highlight on a hot day is the Gorner Gorge.

Optional: To get the most out of your alpine experience we could add a helicopter ride to your travel itinerary. On this scenic flight, you will enjoy a unique view of the Weisshorn, Zinalrothorn, Dent Blanche, Matterhorn, and many more.  + CHF 320 per Person

Day 6: Zermatt → Montreux (private driver-guide)

Your guide will meet you at the train station Visp. Continuing your ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from German to French. Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the afternoon on the shores of Lake Geneva. I will include a visit to the medieval Chillon Castle and organize a degustation tour through the vine terraces of  Lavaux (another UNESCO world heritage).

Day 7: Montreux → Jungfrau Region (private driver-guide)

Today another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère. Your guide will take care of your luggage and will meet you again in Gruyère.

The medieval town of Gruyère is home to the namesake AOP cheese and close by, in Broc, I would like to invite you on a short tour through the chocolate museum of Cailler.

Depending on how much time you would like to spend in the Gruyère area you can still decide spontaneously to take a short detour and stroll through the cute old-town of Bern.

Day 8: Jungfrau Region (private driver-guide)

Today we will head to the valley of the 72 waterfalls, the Lauterbrunnen valley. We take the cable car up to the 2,970-metre Schilthorn to enjoy the stunning view of the famous Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. The Schilthorn became famous as a location for the 1969 James Bond film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”.

Day 9: Jungfrau Region → Lake Lucerne (private driver-guide)

In the morning we will add a historic train to your travel memories: We just need to cross the blueish Lake of Brienz that has been our home for the last nights to get to the village Brienz from where the train to the Brienzer Rothorn departs. What makes it special? These trains are not electrified and still operate with steam!

After returning back to Brienz we will continue our journey to Lucerne. Its Old Town is rated every year among the most beautiful towns in the world. Stroll around before enjoying a scenic boat cruise on Lake Lucerne which will bring you to your hotel a little outside of the touristic hotspot. Winding its way through the mountain scenery, it is a perfect way to get some views of famous mountains like the Stanserhorn, Mount Rigi and Pilatus.

Day 10: Lake Lucerne (private driver-guide)

Your hotel is located conveniently close to the oldest cogwheel train of Switzerland up Mount Rigi, the "Queen of all mountains" on the shores of the Lake.

If you are interested in the history of Switzerland you might want to cross the lake and visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore the confederation of the first three cantons was formed.

Day 11: Lucerne → Zurich Airport (private driver-guide)

The airport is very well connected from Lucerne which will allow you to maybe get some souvenirs or just enjoy a hot coffee on the shores of the Lake. If time allows your guide will have another highlight to end your trip.

We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
