Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

Day 1: Arrival in Zurich:

Your hotel is located conveniently close to the famous Bahnhofstrasse (shopping district) in the heart of Zurich's Old Town. A great way to discover Zurich and to learn a little more about its history are the Free Walking Tours - probably the best way to stay flexible enough for your day of arrival

The twin towers of the Grossmünster are not only Zurich's prominent landmark, visitors can also climb up the Karlsturm and enjoy a breathtaking view over the city.

Day 2: Zurich: Day Excursion to Rhine Falls & St. Gallen

You will leave Switzerland's largest city behind for the day and you will head up north to Europe's biggest waterfall - the Rhine Falls. By boat, you get on the Rock in the middle of the falls to understand the power of this natural spectacle. On the other side of the falls lies Castle Laufen.

Around noon you can stop in St. Gallen to discover the UNESCO world heritage Abbey district of St. Gallen. Ist magnificent Baroque cathedral forms a unique historical ensemble. The Abbey Library - with Switzerland's most beautiful hall and ancient books will fascinate you.

Day 3: Zurich → Engadin Valley

On your way to the Alps, you will pass the beautiful Lake Walen from where the mighty seven Churfirsten arise. If you'd like you can jump of the train* and a  short boat cruise could bring you to the highest waterfalls in Switzerland. It is only a short walk to get closer to this natural spectacle. A small farm restaurant invites to linger around.

*All train stations offer smaller and bigger lockers for your luggage.

If you would like to do some shopping or equip yourselves for your next days in the mountains, we could stop by at the Landquart fashion outlet.

Day 4: Engadin Valley

The Engadin Valley is a true nature and outdoor paradise. St. Moritz was not without reason the birthplace of winter tourism and hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it is the culture and tradition of this luxurious Alpine resort that has made it what it is today.

Go on a train ride on the Bernina tracks to Alp Grüm. Offering breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers this UNESCO world heritage doesn't leave any wishes open.

For cheese lovers: Have a break at the alpine cheesery Morteratsch and follow every step of making this swiss delicacy with your own eyes

Self-Guided (Train)

Day 5: Engadin → Zermatt

Today we will add another highlight to your travel memories: The famous Glacier Express train ride. Over its entire length, the Glacier Express leads over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels over the Swiss Alps. Sit back and relax while the train winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct, and through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland.  A 4-course menu (vegetarian) rounds everything up.

Day 6: Zermatt

You will have the chance to discover Zermatt on the foot of Switzerland's natural landmark - the Matterhorn. Very popular is the 5 lakes hike in the morning to get a perfect reflection of the surrounding mountains.

Take up the cable car to the Glacier Paradise, Europe's highest cable car station (3883 meters). One of the highlights is certainly the platform with a view over 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers of the Swiss, Italian and French Alps.

Optional: Get ready to climb (hike) your first 4 000m peak - the Breithorn. This tour is a perfect way to get a sense of high Alpine air for the first time, but only for surefooted and experienced hikers accompanied by a mountain guide. In the early morning, you take the cable car to the Matterhorn glacier paradise at 3,883 m from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers.

(Plus CHF 220 per Person in a Group or CHF 660 as a privat tour)

Day 7: Zermatt → Montreux

Continuing your ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from German to French. Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the rest of the day on the shores of Lake Geneva. A visit to the medieval Chillon Castle is always worth it.

Day 8: Montreux Riviera

Before noon we organize a degustation tour through the vine terraces of  Lavaux (another UNESCO world heritage) - why so early? There is almost no shade in the vineyards and it can get quite hot during the day.

Later your can follow the northern shoreline to Geneva, home of the UN, ICRC, and numerous other NGOs. Optional: Depending on your interest, we are happy to organize a guided tour through the UN.

Day 9: Montreux → Grindelwald

Today another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass.

If available we'd like to make a reservation in one of the local cheeseries for a degustation of the local cheese and during a demonstration of how this swiss delicacy is manufactured for centuries (not a full demonstration but a blink into this old process).

Day 10: Grindelwald

Grindelwald is located on the foot of the notorious Eiger North Face. The last alpine challenge is feared and admired for centuries. Right next to it rise the snowy peaks of the Mönch and Jungfrau.

This day is reserved to explore the Jungfraujoch: Icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches underfoot, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Mittelland towards the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch Glacier, lined with four thousand meter peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

Day 11: Grindelwald → Lucerne

If you are fine with leaving your luggage at the train station in Brienz: Cross the blueish Lake Brienz by boat and go on a short walk to explore the beautiful Giessbach Falls.

Lucerne's Old Town is rated every year among the most beautiful towns in the world. Stroll around before we will invite you on a boat cruise on Lake Lucerne. Those who are interested in the history of Switzerland might want to hop off and hike part of the Switzerland trail or visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore a confederation of the first three cantons was formed.

For the evening we will add another highlight: Experience the natural spectacle of a radiant sunset over the towering peaks of Central Switzerland. Let the tranquility of the lake and the majesty of the mountains do their bit, while the stately steamboat or the vessel "MS Diamant" gently glides over the waves. The cruise is included in your package - you can check out the menu here

Day 12: Lake Lucerne

If you are interested in the history of Switzerland might want to hop off the boat and hike part of the Switzerland trail or visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore a confederation of the first three cantons was formed.

As a final highlight, the oldest cogwheel train of Switzerland up to the top of Mount Rigi, the queen of all mountains is included in your package. Enjoy once more the scenery of the Alps and Lake Lucerne.

Day 13: Lucerne → Zurich Airport

The airport is very well connected from Lucerne which will allow you to maybe get some souvenirs or just enjoy a hot coffee on the shores of the Lake.

We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your family until it is time to say:  "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
