Trip Itinerary:

We kindly ask for your understanding that the final tour itinerary including our detailed recommendations can only be provided after your confirmation and down payment.

Day 1: Zurich Airport → Lucerne:

Willkommen in der Schweiz -Welcome to Switzerland!

We will organize a private transfer from Zurich Airport to your hotel, located on the shores of Lake Lucerne (~1-hour Shuttle Zurich Airport > Lucerne).

Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art. For the

Day 2: Zurich to Locarno (guided):

Your guide will meet you in the morning for a quick briefing. He/She will take care of your luggage on this day.

When the journey becomes an adventure: you are discovering history on the Gotthard Panorama Express. A unique combination of boat and train travel en route between Central Switzerland and Ticino. Stop in Bellinzona and discover the 3 Fortresses of Bellinzona.

2,300 hours of sunshine per year and a church established after the appearance of the Virgin Mary - this is Locarno, the town with the warmest climate in Switzerland. It is located on the northern shore of Lago Maggiore.

Day 3: Locarno: Day Excursion into the Verzasca Valley (guided):

Enjoy the day in the exceptional Ticino. Your guide will take you into the Valle Verzacsca for a little hike or walk OR go for a swim in the jade-green water. The Verzasca Dam, better known from the James Bond movie "Golden Eye" is also worth a stop.

In the evening you'll enjoy some Dolce Vita.

Guided Tour

Day 4: Locarno to St. Moritz (guided):

Via Lake Como, your guide will bring you safely to Tirano. Then the Bernina Express links up regions with different languages and cultures. This is not a rack railway and the train winds its way gently through splendid scenery.

On the highest railway across the Alps, the Bernina Express climbs up to the glistening glaciers before descending to the palms of Italy far below. This rail link between Northern and Southern Europe builds bridges between regions with different languages and cultures.

Day 5 St. Moritz:

The Engadin Valley is a true nature and outdoor paradise. St. Moritz was not without reason the birthplace of winter tourism and hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it is the culture and tradition of this luxurious Alpine resort that has made it what it is today.

For active travelers: We have plenty of hiking suggestions for every fitness level. Our tip: Rent yourself an (E-) mountain bike to explore the Bernina valley a little closer.

For cheese lovers: Have a break at the alpine cheesery Morteratsch and follow every step of making this swiss delicacy with your own eyes

Day 6: Engadin → Zermatt (Glacier Express)

Today we will add another highlight to your travel memories: The famous Glacier Express train ride. Over its entire length, the 8-hour journey on the Glacier Express leads over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels over the Swiss Alps. Sit back and relax while the train winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct, and through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland.

Day 7: Zermatt

Get ready to climb (hike) your first 4 000m peak - the Breithorn. This tour is a perfect way to get a sense of high Alpine air for the first time, but only for surefooted and experienced hikers accompanied by a mountain guide. In the early morning, you take the cable car to the Matterhorn glacier paradise at 3,883 m from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers.

The climb to the top and the descent afterward lasts about three hours depending on the conditions. After the climb, we recommend visiting the Glacier Palace in the Matterhorn glacier paradise. It is carved into the glacier and displays many ice sculptures and centuries-old ice formations.

Day 8: Zermatt → Montreux:

Continuing your train ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from German to French.

Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the rest of the day on the shores of Lake Geneva. A visit to the medieval Chillon Castle is always worth it: If ever a castle could fit the fairy-tale bill, the dashingly handsome Château de Chillon would be it, with its moat, double ramparts, and riot of turrets and towers, plus knockout views of Lake Geneva and the French Alps.

Day 9: Montreux → Geneva:

Follow the northern shoreline to Geneva, home of the UN, ICRC, and numerous other NGOs. Depending on your interest and time until departure, we are happy to organize a guided tour through the UN or provide you with a map for a city stroll through Geneva.

We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your travel mates until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"

Optional:

+ 1 Day: Montreux

Today another magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass.

Combine food and hiking - get yourselves a prepacked fondue rucksack and hike to one of the giant fondue pots (seating areas) to enjoy your delicious fondue. The area of Gstaad and Zweisimmen is known for its cheese delicacies.

+ 1 Day: Lucerne:

Enjoy the day on the shores of Lake Lucerne. If you are interested in the history of Switzerland you might want to hop off the boat and hike part of the Switzerland trail or visit the meadow where the legendary oath of Rüttli was taken and therefore a confederation of the first three cantons was formed.

Or take the oldest cogwheel train of Switzerland up to the top of Mount Rigi, the ‘queen of all mountains’.
