Day 1: Zurich Airport → Lucerne (19th June 2023)

Willkommen in der Schweiz -Welcome to Switzerland!

We will organize a private transfer from Zurich Airport to your hotel, located on the shores of Lake Lucerne (~1-hour Shuttle Zurich Airport > Lucerne). This day is at leisure to get rid of your jetlag. Your hotel is close to the Old-Town and most sights if you want to go for a walk and stretch out your legs.

Sitting on the foot of the mountain Pilatus, Lucerne is often voted as one of the prettiest cities in the world, featuring a colorful old town and 14th-century city walls, as well as covered bridges including the iconic Kapellbrücke with its 17th-century art.

Day 2: Lucerne:

Your guide will meet you at the hotel lobby. After a short briefing, we'll start this tour swiss-like: with a chocolate-making workshop. A chocolatier will share their knowledge so you can put it into practice. A glance through the atelier window at the mountains and lake will leave you in no doubt about the Swissness of your craftsmanship!

We'll later visit Lucerne's house mountain - the Pilatus. Commissioned in 1889, a gradient of up to 48 percent, and about 30 minutes travel time: that is the steepest cogwheel railway in the world in figures. Meter by meter it scales the way from Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm, passing alpine meadows and striking rock formations.

Day 3: Lucerne → Ascona/Lorcarno

When the journey becomes an adventure: you are discovering history on the Gotthard Panorama Express. A unique combination of boat and train travel en route between Central Switzerland and Ticino. Your guide will take care of your luggage.

2,300 hours of sunshine per year and a church established after the appearance of the Virgin Mary - this is Locarno, the town with the warmest climate in Switzerland. It is located on the northern shore of Lago Maggiore.

private guided tour

Day 4: Ascona/Locarno

We'll invite you on private day cruise on Lake Maggiore - This exclusive guided tour will allow you to enjoy a panoramic boat cruise on the lake, to visit Santa Caterina del Sasso Hermitage and the main Borromean Island (Isola Bella) with a private guide.

Day 5: Ascona → Engadin

We'll take the route along Lago di Como through Italy before we'll enter Switzerland again - Then the Bernina Express links up regions with different languages and cultures. This is not a rack railway and the train winds its way gently through splendid scenery.

On the highest railway across the Alps, the Bernina Express climbs up to the glistening glaciers before descending to the palms of Italy far below. This rail link between Northern and Southern Europe builds bridges between regions with different languages and cultures.

The railway is unique, blending ideally with the alpine landscapes around the Albula and Bernina Passes. The train negotiates the 55 tunnels, 196 bridges and inclines of up to 70 per mille with ease.

Day 6: Engadin:

The Engadin Valley is a true nature and outdoor paradise. St. Moritz was not without reason the birthplace of winter tourism and hosted the Winter Olympics twice. Despite its cosmopolitan atmosphere, it is the culture and tradition of this luxurious Alpine resort that has made it what it is today.

For cheese lovers: Have a break at the alpine cheesery Morteratsch and follow every step of making this swiss delicacy with your own eyes and get yourself a plate of cheese or even an original Swiss cheese fondue!

Day 7: Engadin to Zermatt:

Today we will add another highlight to your travel memories: The famous Glacier Express train ride. Over its entire length, the Glacier Express leads over 291 bridges and through 91 tunnels over the Swiss Alps.

On your trip from St Moritz, the train winds its way through remote valleys, past sheer rock faces, idyllic mountain villages, over the Landwasser Viaduct, and through the Rhine Gorge, the Grand Canyon of Switzerland.

Excellence Class - Complementary Services:

Lounge seating with guaranteed window seat, exclusive access to the Glacier Bar, Tablet with Bordinfotainment, Concierge as host in the Excellence Class, Welcome-Desk & personal check-in on the platform, Luggage transport in dedicated lockable sections aboard

Catering:

Coffee, juice, soft drinks, Starter plate with Champagne, Regional 5-course menu incl. wine accompaniment, Tea Time in the afternoon with goodies, Snacks throughout the day available

Day 8 & 9: Zermatt:

The car-free town of Zermatt is located at the foot of Switzerland's landmark - the impressive Matterhorn. The peak lift takes you up to the 360º viewing platform on Europe’s highest mountain station 'Klein Matterhorn', from where you can see 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers.

A must-see is Zermatt’s glacier paradise, as well as the the famous Gorner Grat train which gives an impressive view of the Alps and Zermatt and offers shorter and longer walks for every level.

Day 10: Zermatt → Montreux

Continuing your ride along the Valais (Valley) the language will change from German to French. Arriving at the Montreux Riviera you can enjoy the rest of the day on the shores of Lake Geneva.

For the late afternoon, we will include a visit to the medieval Chillon Castle.

Day 11: Montreux:

Follow the northern shoreline to Geneva, home of the UN, ICRC, and numerous other NGOs. Stroll through Geneva's Old Town, or take a walk along the shores in the English Garden to Geneva's landmark - the Jet d'eau.

We'll then organize a boat cruise on Lake Geneva - currently, the timetables are not announced yet but we'd love to organize e.g. the Lunch or Fondue Cruise

On our way back we'll have a little wine degustation in the Vine terraces of Lavaux (UNESCO heritage).

Day 12: Montreux → Grindelwald

Today a magnificent train ride is awaiting you - the Golden Pass. Personally, this is my favorite train line, even though it is short compared to the Glacier Express. Making its way up the steep mountain ridge you shouldn't miss a single moment! These tracks are also the only way crossing the nature parc of Gruyère - cars have to make a detour for hours to experience what you can do, stressless in one of the baroque wagons of the Golden Pass.

Combine food and walking - we get ourselves a prepacked fondue rucksack in Schönried and walk (15 min) to one of the giant fondue pots (seating areas) to enjoy your delicious fondue. The area of Gstaad and Zweisimmen is known for its cheese delicacies. Then it's time to get to the Jungfrau Region.

Day 13: Grindelwald

This day is reserved to explore the Jungfraujoch: Icy air sweeps over your face, snow crunches underfoot, and the panorama almost takes your breath away: on one side the view of the Swiss Mittelland towards the Vosges, on the other the Aletsch Glacier, lined with four thousand meter peaks. Standing on the Jungfraujoch 3,454 meters above sea level, you can feel it with your first step: this is a different world. It's one you have to experience.

On our way back we'll take the train to Kleine Scheidegg and Wengen.

Day 14: Grindelwald → Zurich:

We'll continue your journey to the Lauterbrunnen valley: In 1911, the 19-year-old J.R.R. Tolkien hikes through the Swiss Alps – and of course through the Lauterbrunnen Valley with its steep rockfaces. Hardly anyone knows that he found his inspiration for the landscape in «Lord of the Rings» here. Yes, really: those who know the books and films immediately have the feeling they've been thrown into Middle-Earth.

On our way to Zurich we'll stop in Bern. Our capital is not to be underestimated. It is not just the seat of our parliament, it is also a UNESCO heritage - did you know, that the bear is not only the symbol of Bern? Bears live in the city!

Your hotel is located in the heart of Zurich, close to the famous Bahnhofstrasse (shopping district) and Old Town.

Day 15: Zurich (3rd July 2023)

We'll organize a private shuttle from your hotel to Zurich airport. This will allow you to maybe get some souvenirs or just enjoy a hot coffee on the shores of the Lake.

We are confident that this itinerary will provide some exclusive memories for you and your family until it is time to say: "Ade, Au revoir, ciao and hope to CYou again in Switzerland"
